The three-day English-language international event, “Empirical Research on Social Movements and Protest: New Voices” will take place December 3, 4, 5, 2025 at the Graduate School for Social Research, Polish Academy of Sciences, and feature PhD student research on their projects in political sociology.
Major events around the world over the last two decades — financial crises, rising populism, pandemic, and war — and growing recognition of the rights of historically marginalized groups have encouraged a diversity of protests and social movements. At the same time, technological innovations have created new methodological opportunities to analyze protest and social movements. This event brings together an international mix of PhD students and scholars to explore these topics.
Day 1 of the event consists of PhD students’ presentations. On Days 2 and 3, PhD students will view presentations by new and established scholars on the topics of the event, with networking opportunities at a conference in IFiS PAN.
